Optimum Lightpath said its Managed Video service now supports real-time transport of uncompressed high-definition (HD) video at high reliability levels over its fiber network.
The ability is targeted primarily to media production facilities, broadcasters, television stations, video relay bureaus and content distributors that want to transport high-quality video of live events to various local destinations.
“As one of the largest media hubs in the world, the New York metro area is home to an abundance of media companies that need to quickly move video around the region,” said Julia McGrath, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Optimum Lightpath.
The company’s managed 1.485 GB linear uncompressed HD-SDI video transport service is provided over a dedicated optical transport service wavelength. The comprehensive Managed Video expands functionality to accept, transport and deliver native compressed and uncompressed digital video in common industry formats, including ASI, SDI and HD-SDI. Optimum Lightpath manages encoding and decoding, as well as installation, operation and maintenance, of all related equipment for Managed Video.
Optimum Lightpath offers managed video services throughout the New York metro area to primarily support and manage real-time video transport and editing of news, sporting and entertainment for broadcast and media companies.
The new capability supports media companies used to sharing and working with unprocessed video.
