Telefónica de Argentina recently selected Comptel Convergent Mediation to help manage more than 90 million daily transactions from its 23 million subscribers, the vendor announced.
This follows the announcement early in January that Telefónica's mobile subsidiary, Movistar Argentina, had upgraded its Comptel systems to the Convergent Mediation platform. Comptel enabled Telefónica de Argentina's mobile operator to manage more than 600 million transactions daily, Comptel said.
For the parent company, the new Comptel platform replaces a system from a competitor.
"Comptel Convergent Mediation demonstrated with our mobile operator, Movistar Argentina, that it is more than capable of handling significant transactional volumes daily," said Adriana Kohner, manager of Telefónica Global Technology Argentina. "We believe that the OSS solution will also provide a solid foundation for managing our fixed business and enabling future uptake of our advanced, converged services."
A member of the Telefónica Group, Telefónica de Argentina is the largest CSP in Argentina. It has 23 million fixed and mobile subscribers, from consumers to small- to medium-size businesses to enterprises, in the region.
