The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Foundation announced today that Julian Brodsky, director emeritus of Comcast, has accepted a seat on its board of directors for the remainder of the 2011-12 term.
As a member of the board, Brodsky will be actively involved in developing the Foundation and its mission of driving education related to engineering and operations in cable telecommunications.
Brodsky is the latest high-profile addition to the Foundation's board of directors. Tony Werner, president and CTO of Comcast Cable, was elected as president and chairman for the 2011-12 term in November, and earlier this year, former Charter Communications CTO Marwan Fawaz joined the board.
"Julian Brodsky's leadership, business acumen and vision have contributed greatly to the growth of the cable industry," said Werner. "His presence on the board of directors will help to enhance the availability of resources that can support the educational goals of cable engineering and operations professionals and increase the skills and the knowledge base of the industry."
Prior to his current role with Comcast, Brodsky served as a director from 1969-2011, as non-executive vice chairman from 2004-11 and as vice chairman from 1987-2004.
He also is a director of Amdocs, RBB Fund and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society; a trustee and vice chairman of the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and a director emeritus of The Cable Center.
"Over the past several months, the SCTE Foundation board has been strengthened through the new or increased involvement of some of the smartest, most committed leaders in the cable industry," said Bill Schankel, senior director of marketing for SCTE and SCTE staff liaison with the Foundation. "We anticipate that Tony Werner, Marwan Fawaz, and now Julian Brodsky will add considerable support to the Foundation's efforts as it accelerates the availability of new learning opportunities that can benefit the career growth of SCTE members."
The SCTE board of directors established the SCTE Foundation in 2005 to build on the mission and purpose of SCTE as a professional association dedicated to advancing the careers of cable telecommunications professionals.
