Following a deployment in Cox's Arizona system, which serves Phoenix and Tucson, the Outdoor Channel said this morning that Outdoor Channel HD is now available in the nation's top 25 markets.
"Phoenix is one of the top 10 most-populated cities in the U.S., and we are thrilled that our industry-leading outdoor programming is now available not only to the Phoenix community, but also to residents of all of the top 25 media markets in the U.S.," said Tom Hornish, chief operating officer of Outdoor Channel. "In 2012, we will continue to work with our key affiliate partners to further expand Outdoor Channel and Outdoor Channel HD's reach and expose the Outdoor Channel brand to new populations of avid fans with a passion for the outdoors."
The Outdoor Channel first launched its HD service four years ago. Last year, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Charter Communications rolled it out in additional systems.
"Outdoor Channel HD has seen rapid growth in the last 30 months, since committing to 100 percent original HD content, adding more than 8 million homes," said Randy Brown, executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing at Outdoor Channel.
