Cisco is in the process of acquiring Moto Development Group, a design consulting firm that helped develop the Flip video line, which Cisco picked up when it bought Pure Digital over a year ago.
The San Francisco-based design shop has also been reported to have Apple, Intel and Microsoft (Zune 2.0) among its other clients.
The group is also responsible for the Android Media Platform, a series of reference designs for phones based on Google’s Android operating system.
Jonathan Kaplan, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco Consumer Products, said, “Moto’s design and engineering teams have deep consumer expertise that will accelerate our ability to continue to deliver great products and expand Cisco's consumer business.”
The Moto group will report to Kaplan.
Financial terms of the transaction are undisclosed. The acquisition is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of Cisco's fiscal year 2010.
