Optimum Lightpath and partner GetWellNetwork have signed up their first New York City metropolitan area customer for their Interactive Patient Care offering.
The Children’s Hospital At Montefiore (CHAM), which is based in the Bronx, will implement Interactive Patient Care’s GetWell Town in all 130 of its beds at no additional cost to its patients. Using Optimum Lightpath’s fiber-optic network, CHAM will use the service to improve entertainment, education, patient safety, clinical care outcomes and bed turnover rates, which will not only result in improved hospital experiences for patients, but will also improve CHAM’s operational efficiencies.
Automated patient education is an integral component of the new service, and nurses will be able to order education programs specific to each patient and track their completion – all from the current Electronic Health Record system. The deal expands Montefiore Medical Center’s existing relationship with Optimum Lightpath, which has provided its communication services since 2001.
Interactive Patient Care will be deployed throughout CHAM over a six-month period.

While Optimum Lightpath provides connectivity to the Interactive Patient Care solution, GetWellNetwork helps patients and their families learn more about their diagnosis, as well as connect them with friends and family members through e-mail and IM.
GetWell Town, which was designed for children, delivers exclusive health education content from KidsHealth using interactive videos to improve patient education and engagement.
Optimum Lightpath and GetWell first announced the Interactive Patient Care offering  last year.
