Cable industry veteran Sean Rooney has been hired by BigBand Networks as its senior vice president of worldwide sales.
Rooney will report to BigBand COO David Heard in his new position and will oversee the company’s global sales organization and functions across all major accounts.
“[Rooney] is a seasoned sales executive with a proven track record in strategic sales development and management,” Heard said. “His experience in breaking new ground with large, multi-national companies in the broadband industry will help us continue to grow, scale and add tremendous value to our customers, partners and shareholders.”
Rooney has more than 20 years of experience in sales, business development, marketing and product management with large multi-national, small and start-up companies in the broadband industry.
Prior to BigBand, he served as senior executive of sales at Motorola, where he helped build and integrate the on-demand systems group following Motorola’s acquisition of Broadbus Technologies.
While at Broadbus, he built and managed the worldwide sales and service organization, managing global accounts such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter, UPC, Rogers, Telenet and BSkyB. Rooney has also held various positions at Netrix, a VoIP pioneer, and at Sony.
