Digeo is reaching across the Internet for more video content with the latest enhancements to its Moxi HD DVR.
Digeo said today that its HD DVR now has new services available directly from the on-screen menu, including Internet video content from YouTube, Netflix and Hulu, as well as more streaming directly to TVs through MediaMall Technologies’ PlayOn media server software.
In addition to the Internet video content, Digeo said Rhapsody’s streaming music service is now available.
The Moxi HD DVR also includes “eControls,” which is a home automation feature that allows users to customize the home theater experience by adjusting lighting and other Z-Wave-supported products, including IP cameras and AV products. The Z-Wave Alliance is a consortium of manufacturers that have agreed to build wireless home control products based on the Zensys Z-Wave open standard.
The Flickr online photo service and MoxiNet Internet browser were also enhanced, and Moxi is now certified to support the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) home networking standard.
Digeo said the new services will be available automatically to customers with a Moxi HD DVR via a software upgrade at no additional charge.
Additionally, as part of the new functionality, the company is offering existing and new Moxi customers a PlayOn license key – which Digeo said is valued at $39.99 – for free for a limited time, as well as a free 30-day Rhapsody trial.
In February, Digeo CEO Greg Gudorf, while speaking about the Moxi HD DVR’s home networking and home automation capabilities, told CED that a multi-room announcement will drop later this year (story here ).
