Procera Networks announced the latest iteration of its midrange PacketLogic suite of deep packet inspection (DPI) platforms, this one optimized for use with CMTS equipment.
The configurable PL7720 replaces the single-channel PL7600 and the dual-channel PL7620.
"Considering the increasing adoption of bandwidth-heavy applications like video, latency-sensitive online games, and the mix of business and leisure traffic in the same multi-function network, deep packet inspection has become an increasingly important network tool to deliver the quality and experience expected by the online community today," said Jon Linden, vice president of global marketing at Procera Networks.
Provisioned on a 2RU chassis and configurable for either single or dual channels, the PL7720 provides the complete PacketLogic feature set of real-time traffic monitoring, statistics reporting, bandwidth management, layer- 7 filtering and per-user service creation.
The PL7720’s modular design, with front-mounted components including network interfaces, hard drives and power supplies, allows for simplified field replacements and enables future upgrades to the system as network needs evolve. To ensure platform security and increased product resiliency, the PL7720 comes with standard dual-power supplies and dual hard disk drives in a RAID configuration.
