Today at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, Motorola announced the Motorola Digital Addressable Controller 4.0 (DAC 4.0) software upgrade for DAC customers.
Motorola said the new version is tantamount to a product redesign that enhances a DAC operator’s ability to use, configure and manage digital video assets. DAC 4.0 software is available to existing DAC6000 customers for evaluation and will be included in future hardware deployments.
The most visible change to DAC 4.0 is the addition of a newly designed, Web-based user interface that makes utilizing the functions of the controller easier and more intuitive for a DAC operator, according to Motorola. Motorola DAC 4.0 also automates manually intensive processes such as channel map changes.
“DAC 4.0 is a great leap forward in the evolution of our DAC product,” said Mark DePietro, VP of video access, digital video solutions, for Motorola Home & Networks Mobility.
Also among the features of the DAC 4.0 is implementation of support for functions that require import and export of bulk changes in XML and new customized reports, which can be exported into various standard spreadsheet-compatible formats. DAC 4.0 enables new monitoring capabilities via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Managed Information Base (MIB) that allow DAC operators and remote support teams to obtain alerts on system status.
