Arris is now offering video-on-demand (VOD) Privacy Mode Encryption for its D5 Universal Edge QAM (UEQ).
Privacy Mode enables U.S. cable operators to easily encrypt their VOD programming, ensuring that this content can only be viewed by authorized subscribers, the company said.
Arris said its Privacy Mode delivers an economic and scalable content security mechanism that will support continued VOD revenue growth.
The D5 UEQ is a highly dense and flexible, multi-service platform supporting Digital Broadcast, VOD and multi-protocol switched digital video (SDV).
The device is also fully hardware compatible with DOCSIS 3.0 and M-CMTS standards, and it will be fully compliant with a simple software upgrade that will be available later in 2008.
