Under the deal, Verizon's forthcoming FiOS TV service will offer a dozen Disney and ESPN Networks on its expanded basic tier, including ABC Family, Disney Channel, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD, Toon Disney and SOAPnet.
Verizon will complement those traditional channels with broadband content services such as ABC News Now, Disney Connection, and ESPN360. The telco has also agreed to carry ABC's owned and operated broadcast stations. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Verizon has also agreed to help thwart copyright infringement of Disney content distributed via the Internet. Verizon said it will forward and track notices to customers who allegedly distribute Disney content illegally, but will not provide subscriber identities to Disney. Verizon, however, will terminate Internet services to subs who have received multiple notices for infringing on Disney copyrights.
