Coaxsys Inc. has integrated its coax-based home networking technology with the Amino Communications AmiNET 110 IPTV set-top box.
It marks the first set-top integration deal for Coaxsys, maker of TVnet, a coax-based platform that can network IP applications and services at speeds up to 104 Mbps over distances up to 250 feet.
The Amino integration uses a common power supply. In earlier deployments, Coaxsys required a separate unit to handle the IP networking functionality.
Another coax-networking venture, the Multimedia over Coax Alliance, has yet to announce similar set-top integration deals. That project, which counts Comcast Cable as a founder, aims to distribute IP-based applications over home coax networks at speeds up to 270 Mbps.
