OmniVision S.A. of Argentina has called on Cedar Point Communications to power a rollout of IP telephony services.
Under the deal, OmniVision will deploy Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Media Switching System to begin servicing customers in Buenos Aires this fall. Taking a centralized approach, the SAFARI C3 combines several PacketCable network elements, including the call management server, signaling gateway and media gateway, into one device.
Omnivision's franchises pass more than 1.5 million homes.
In the region, Cedar Point has similar deals in place with Cable Pacifico of Columbia, and Grupo TVCable of Ecuador. The New Hampshire-based vendor is also making waves domestically, thanks in large part to a VoIP partnership with Comcast Cable announced in October.
