WideOpenWest LLC has confirmed talk it will acquire the assets of Ameritech New Media. The acquired systems serve about 310,000 households in Chicago; Detroit; and Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio.
The systems will become a platform for introducing digital video and broadband high-speed Internet service to 2 million Midwest households, WOW says.
The systems are in good condition and customer satisfaction ratings are high, said WOW President and CEO Mark Haverkate in a statement. The company will use that as a base to launch new services and compete with incumbent providers. There will be no interruption during the transition, WOW says.
Neither company could be reached by CEDaily deadline.
The company is also building and operating a network in the Denver area, it says.
