Fastnet Corp. reports the connection of its first fixed wireless customer. Clark Media Inc., in Bethlehem, Pa., launches Fastnet's deployment of fixed wireless Internet access in two of Fastnet's eight core markets.
Clark Media reports the speedier connections allow it to start using the Internet to interact with video production clients, including showing projects to remote clients in real time.
Fastnet is using licensed and unlicensed, spectrum-based products and technology to provision the network, including its acquisition last week of Cybertech Wireless Inc. in Rochester, N.Y., which accelerated Fastnet's deployment of fixed wireless access in the market.
Fastnet says the connections are scalable, secure and enable enterprise customers to connect to the Web. Provisioning intervals are expected to be fewer than five days, compared to 60 when provisioned as a traditional wireline service through incumbent exchange carriers, it says.
