Sinclair Broadcasting Group this week struck a renewed agreement with ABC TV that extends affiliations across all Sinclair stations to August 2022.

That includes nine affiliation deals that were set to expire at the end of 2017, along with ABC affiliates that Sinclair provides sales and other services to under joint sales agreements.

In addition, the multi-year deal agrees to an extension of Tribune Media’s ABC affiliation agreements, contingent on the closing of Sinclair’s proposed $3.9 billion acquisition of Tribune.

“We are pleased to extend and renew our agreements with ABC, a longtime partner and provider of some of broadcast television's most popular entertainment, news and sports programming," Barry Faber, EVP for Distribution and Network Relations, said in a statement. "The renewals reflect the value of the symbiotic relationship between ABC's programming and the local news and syndicated content we provide."

Sinclair’s 24 ABC affiliates across 30 markets serve 16 million households and cover 14 percent of the U.S., the company said.
