The awards lunch at Cable-Tec Expo is always a key event at the show that’s sponsored by the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts. Among the kudos revealed by the Society at the event are the Member of the Year Award, the Women in Technology Award and the Hall of Fame induction.

This year’s luncheon is slated for Wed., Sept. 28 in Philadelphia and will feature as the keynoter author and educator Syd Finkelstein who'll offer insights on business leadership and strategy.

SCTE reports that Finkelstein’s classes are highlights at the annual  SCTE/ISBE Leadership Institute at Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth, and he will address themes around his 20 books, including a #1 bestseller, “Why Smart Executives Fail,” and the most recent “Superbosses: How Exceptional Leaders Master the Flow of Talent.” The keynote remarks are sponsored by Hitachi.

“The expertise shared by our SCTE/ISBE-Tuck faculty at the Awards Luncheon each year speaks to issues that are key to the future of our industry,” Lindsay Johnston, SVP, operations for SCTE/ISBE, notes. “Like Marshall Goldsmith and Ron Adner in recent years, Syd Finkelstein’s insights into the characteristics and thought processes that make business leaders successful will be of value to our entire luncheon audience.”

Finkelstein is the Steven Roth Professor of Management and faculty director of the Tuck Executive Program, and also is the faculty director of the Center for Leadership at Tuck. In addition to the books he’s written, he’s also penned 79 articles and contributes to and Forbes He was named a Fellow of the Academy of Management in 2007.
