NGN today announced that NGN Connect has acquired Appalachian Broadband Technologies (ABT), a wireless ISP located in Cleveland, Georgia.
NGN Connect intends to use ABT’s wireless infrastructure to expand its broadband service area into spots that are difficult to reach with wireline networks. NGN Connect said it will start marketing new services once it completes implementing structure and allocating resources for the transition.
“We are very excited about this acquisition, as it will strengthen our service reach to better serve our customers and meet the demands in the North Georgia region,” NGN Connect CEO Michael Foor said in a statement. “Our plan is to continue to improve the market reach of the company, starting with the franchise agreements that are in place within local communities and then expanding out from there.”
“We are very pleased to be joining NGN Connect and are confident our shared resources will make ABT’s wireless broadband services even stronger and extend reach into neighboring areas,” Rich Tarpley, former owner of ABT, said in a statement.
