Cogeco Cable has taken the bandwidth caps off of two new data tiers for its Quebec and Ontario subscribers.
Cogeco’s Ultimate 55 Unlimited offering starts at $73.5 per month while Ultimate 120 Unlimited begins at $94.95 for residential customers. Both tiers feature 10 Mbps on the upstream. Cogeco notes on its webpage that Ultimate 120 Unlimited is available “in regions where technology permits.”
"We are constantly committed to offering our customers more flexibility, greater data transfer capacity and delivering the best speeds," said Anne Isabelle Roussy, vice president, marketing and product development, Cogeco Cable Canada, adding: "With these new high speed unlimited bandwidth packages, we are well positioned to meet the needs of the most active Internet households, who can now download music and movies, upload photographs and videos onto social media, do online gaming and stream their favourite Web content without worrying about their bandwidth usage."
Like their cable operator cousins south of the border, Canadian MSOs have tried to manage bandwidth consumption with usage-based billing and caps, which proved to be unpopular with users.
Cogeco said the two new tiers were designed to meet the needs of its most data-hungry consumers “by offering them flexibility and peace of mind in their day-to-day Internet usage.”
