AT&T said it will be launching six new Digital Life markets this Friday. At the same time, the company added a garage door opener app.
With Digital Life’s arrival in Beaumont, Tex., Omaha, Neb., Toledo, Ohio, Greenville, S.C., Cape Coral, Fla., and Oxnard, Calif., AT&T will have made the service available in 81 markets.
The remote garage door controller works with the Digital Life app, used on a smartphone, tablet or computer.
The garage door controller starts at $49.99 (plus equipment, installation, and taxes or fees). After that up-front charge, customers tack an additional $4.99 a month to their Smart Security subscription, which is $39.99/month. Service requires a 2-year contract.
The company said it is offering 50 percent off the standard equipment cost when they add the door, energy or water automation packages.
