Verizon is buying the content delivery company EdgeCast, boosting its video delivery and Internet services capabilities.
Terms were not disclosed Monday.
The New York telecommunications company said EdgeCast will become part of its digital media services business, increasing its ability to deliver content and site acceleration services to customers including studios, broadcasters and retailers.
The boards of both companies have approved the acquisition and Verizon Communications Inc. hopes to close early next year.
EdgeCast has more than 6,000 accounts and serves some of the world's leading Internet brands, Verizon said.
