Tony Werner, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Comcast Cable, will serve as the program committee chairman for SCTE Cable-Tec Expo next year.
Cable-Tec 2014 will be Sept. 23-26, in Denver. He succeeds Kevin Hart, executive vice president and CTO of Cox Communications, as program committee chair.
Werner will drive the development of educational content that will accelerate the deployment of next-generation products and services for Cable-Tec Expo 2014.
“Through increased educational opportunities at Cable-Tec Expo and an enhanced relationship with CableLabs, SCTE has led the way in aligning the skills of the engineering workforce with the needs of cable system operators and consumers,” said Werner. “I look forward to working with the Cable-Tec Expo 2014 Program Committee to create an agenda that prepares our industry for the upcoming changes that will increase cable’s competitive edge in the future.”

In his role with Comcast, Werner is responsible for developing and guiding the company’s technology strategy, including supporting next-generation consumer systems and technologies, engineering, network integration, management tools and technical standards. Werner has more than 25 years of engineering and technical management experience, having held senior management positions with Liberty Global, Qwest Communications, Aurora Networks, TeleCommunications Inc. (TCI)/AT&T Broadband, Rogers Communications, and RCA Cablevision Systems.
