Time Warner Cable has hired Phil Meeks, who had been running Cox Business for the last few years, to run its Business Services unit.
Meeks will get the new title of executive vice president and chief operating officer for Business Services; he starts on June 3rd.
Meeks will lead a team of more than 6,000 employees and oversee all aspects of operations, sales and marketing for business services. He will be based in Time Warner Cable’s corporate office in New York City and will report directly to the company president and COO, Rob Marcus.
Meeks most recently served as senior vice president of Cox Business. Before joining Cox in 2008, he was the co-founder and lead executive for a start-up company focused on enhancing the supply chain between technology vendors and value added resellers in the Internet security, data storage and VoIP markets.
“Phil is a proven leader in the commercial telecommunications industry, with a unique combination of telecom and cable business services experience,” said Marcus. “Business Services is a leading driver of growth for our company. I’m excited to work with Phil to further penetrate the small business opportunity in our footprint, expand our already robust suite of products, and continue to move us up market to serve larger customers.”
TWC’s Business Services unit currently serves more than 570,000 business customers and accounts for approximately $2 billion in annual revenues.
