BroadSoft has tabbed longtime director John Markley Jr. to be its chairman beginning next year.
Markley, 46, joined BroadSoft's board more than a decade ago when the communications software maker was still privately held.
The company, which is based in Gaithersburg, Md., said Monday that Markley will replace venture capitalist Robert Goodman as chairman on Jan. 1. Goodman, the founder of Bessemer Venture Partners, had been BroadSoft's chairman since 2000.
Markley is managing director of Bear Creek Capital Management, an investment firm specializing in the communications, media and technology industries. He also is a director at cable TV and Internet service provider Charter Communications.
