Mediacom Communications recently promoted Italia Commisso Weinand to executive vice president of programming and human resources.
Commisso Weinand, who is the sister of Mediacom Chairman and CEO Rocco Commisso, started her cable career in 1977 at Time Warner Cable. Prior to joining Mediacom in 1996, she served as a regional manager for Comcast. In 1997, she was promoted to senior vice president of programming and human resources.
“I am pleased to further recognize Italia’s tremendous contributions to our organization,” Commisso said. “Since we commenced operations in 1996, she has been an invaluable member of the senior management team, playing a key role in Mediacom’s overall success. Over the years, Italia has skillfully navigated us through the very challenging programming environment, while at the same time effectively built and nurtured a significant human resources organization, becoming the principal advocate for the well being of our 4,600-employee family.”
Inducted as a Cable TV Pioneer, Commisso Weinand previously served as a board member for the United Way, WICT, NCTC and Cable Positive. She is presently on the boards of The Cable Center and The Emma Bowen Foundation and is also active in fundraising for charities such as Knights of Columbus and Hope Through Care.
