SeaChange International subsidiary On Demand Group (ODG) is powering a premium subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service that was recently launched in Mexico by Cablevision.

The new SVOD service allows Cablevision subscribers to view a wide range of video content, including premium TV series and children's programs, studio and independent movies, and music videos, with the ability to pause, rewind or watch the content repeatedly whenever they want.

The SVOD service comes on the heels of the transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) service that the On Demand Group recently launched with Cablevision.

Cablevision's VOD services are delivered on a platform of SeaChange video back office software and video servers.

"We are very pleased to have launched premium TV SVOD services with Cablevision," said Tony Kelly, CEO of ODG. "SVOD has been proven to be a key added value consumer offer that when added to broadcast and catch-up TV services, allows Cablevision to offer the consumer a total TV experience. In addition, when bundled with triple-play offers, SVOD can help acquire subscribers, raise ARPU and decrease churn. This launch further demonstrates our ability to provide compelling TV on-demand services, and we expect to be able to announce further deals with other operators in Latin America over the coming months."

Cablevision is the largest digital MSO in Mexico and is part of Grupo Televisa, the largest Spanish-spoken communications enterprise in the country. Cablevision rolled out its VOD and catch-up services to subscribers last year.

Last week, SeaChange announced that founder, chairman and CEO William Styslinger retired.

SeaChange, which has been transforming itself from hardware VOD servers into a software-based company, will report its third-quarter fiscal 2012 earnings this afternoon.
