Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks have signed up to carry the Pac-12's new networks, which include one national and six regional nets.

The cable operators will also be able to leverage In Demand products and offerings when the new networks launch as the Pac-12 Networks in August of next year.

"We are thrilled to have reached this agreement with the Pac-12 to carry hundreds of live events for fans of the conference and college athletics starting in the summer of 2012," wrote Comcast blogger J.T. Ramsay on the company's blog page. "We're particularly excited about the terrific value this deal will deliver to our customers, including bringing more live local sports on television, more on-demand and the Pac-12's terrific content online so fans can keep up-to-date on their favorite college teams at home or on the go."

The deal is also notable for its TV Everywhere provisions that allow subscribers to watch the video content outside of their homes on smartphones and tablets.

"As we explored the potential for a Pac-12 network, it became clear that we could customize programming toward local interests and provide our students, alumni and many fans the widest possible range of events with the best opportunity to see the schools they care about most," Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said.

Pac-12 Networks eventually will telecast a total of 850 live events annually – 350 on the national feed and 500 on the regional feeds – including every football game and every men's basketball game that isn't carried by national telecast partners. Additional events will include spring football and every sport played by Pac-12 programs, including all conference championships. Pac-12 said it would also work on launching additional content on broadband.

The Pac-12, which added the Universities of Colorado and Utah to the sports fold starting this fall, is also available on ESPN and Fox networks.

The six regional networks will consist of the Northern California, Southern California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Mountain regions.
