Bobby Amirshahi was recently hired by Time Warner Cable as its vice president of communications for New York City.

Time Warner Cable said Amirshahi brings more than 15 years of experience to the company and will be responsible for leading the public relations strategy and execution, community relations programs, and local employee communications efforts in the New York City area. Amirshahi will report to Susan Leepson, regional vice president of communications for Time Warner Cable's East Region.

Bobby AmirshahiPrior to joining Time Warner Cable, he served as senior director of public affairs for Cox Enterprises, where he planned, directed and oversaw the company's corporate social responsibility, media relations, public relations, crisis communications and creative services functions.

Previously, he served as director of corporate communications for Viacom/MTV Networks managing the public and media relations outreach for Comedy Central and Spike TV in Los Angeles.

Amirshahi began his career in communications at the Telecommunications Industry Association in Washington, D.C., and spent nine years at Cox Communications in the media and public relations functions for the company's consumer and commercial divisions.

Amirshahi served as a past board member of the Association of Cable. He also served as the founding president of Cable Positive's Atlanta chapter, the cable industry's AIDS action organization and received the organization's national Brad Wojcoski Memorial Award.

Time Warner Cable's New York City footprint serves more than 1.3 million customers in four New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and western Brooklyn), Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley (Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties and parts of Dutchess, Greene and Delaware counties), and Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey.
