Marvell has joined the HomeGrid Forum, and has taken a seat on the organization's Board of Directors.
Marvell has silicon for Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and cellular connectivity. The move signals Marvell's intention to enter the market for G.hn silicon, following through on its acquisition last summer of the assets of Spanish G.hn specialist known as DS2.
Other companies with representatives on the Forum's board include BT, Intel, Lantiq, Sigma Designs, Telefonica, and Texas Instruments.
The G.hn standard defines a unified technology foundation for the wired home network, the Smart Grid, and Access networks, with a spec that covers in-home connectivity via coaxial cable, phone wires and power lines.
