Motorola Mobility's investment arm, Motorola Ventures, has sunk an undisclosed sum into BlackArrow, the interactive ad specialist.

Motorola has worked with BlackArrow as long ago as the end of 2008, having worked together to provide interactive ads through Motorola's B1 on-demand server.

BlackArrow considers the investment an extension of its Series C funding, announced last April. At the time, the company announced it had collected $20 million from new investor NDS and previous investors Cisco Systems, Comcast Interactive Capital, Intel Capital, Mayfield Fund and Polaris Venture Partners.

Motorola and BlackArrow said they will develop integrated addressable media and advertising solutions for set-top boxes and mobile devices, as well as cloud-based, hosted video services and IP video delivery.

BlackArrow is one of the companies that has lent its expertise to Canoe Ventures. In addition to Motorola, BlackArrow has conducted integrations with NDS, SeaChange International, Sigma Systems and Arris.

The company also has been involved in VOD interactive ad trials with Comcast, Rainbow Media, Fox Cable and Bresnan Communications.
