Bright House Networks has been on a roll of late with new service deployments, and yesterday the nation's sixth-largest cable operator added to its list of accomplishments with the launch of its Remote DVR Manager for mobile devices.
Earlier this year, Bright House Networks' Remote Manager made its debut on PCs and Mac computers, but yesterday's launch added iPhones, Android, Blackberry and other smartphones into the mix for the cable operator's subscribers.
By logging onto "My Services" on Bright House Networks' Web portal, Remote DVR Manager lets customers program and manage their home DVRs from any location.
With the service, digital subscribers can search TV listings for shows by title, person, rating, channel or date, or can browse by categories such as action, comedy, drama, news and sports.
The service launched yesterday in central Florida, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, Bakersfield, Calif., and Birmingham, Ala.
"Remote DVR access on mobile devices is yet another great new benefit for Bright House Networks' customers, giving them even more control over their TV viewing and never missing any of their favorite shows," said Kevin Hyman, execuitve vice president of cable operations at Bright House Networks.
Last month, Bright House launched its Look Back service in central Florida and Tampa Bay, and a multi-room DVR service is slated to make its debut over the coming weeks.
