Cogeco Cable, the fourth-largest Canadian MSO, has chosen Tandberg Television’s OpenStream digital services platform as its exclusive back office system.

The platform will integrate into Cogeco’s infrastructure to support current services such as VOD, subscription VOD and free on-demand, the vendor said.

"We wanted a back office system that could scale and grow with us,” said Chris MacFarlane, vice president of corporate engineering at Cogeco. “Tandberg Television's OpenStream provided us with all the features we were seeking and more."

Cogeco Cable, which serves more than 400,000 digital subscribers in Quebec and Ontario, will immediately create its own unique playlists and use OpenStream's Interactive Catalog for scalable, real-time catalog navigation.

Moving forward, OpenStream will allow Cogeco to deploy new on-demand services using system components of its choice.

At the CableLabs Summer Conference last month, TandbergTV demonstrated an updated version of its OpenStream platform that is designed to allow cable operators to send video content across the three screens of TVs, PCs and mobile devices.
