Cox Communications continues to reorganize its senior management team with today’s announcement that Mark Kaish was named as its new senior vice president of technology operations, as well as with some additional appointments to its leadership team.

Cox started reorganizing its management team after senior vice president of engineering and CTO Chris Bowick informed the company of his plan to retire sometime this year.

“In keeping with our goal of achieving an integrated technology platform, we have brought together all of the operations groups within the new technology organization and placed them under Mark’s leadership,” said Scott Hatfield, Cox’s senior vice president of technology. “We expect Mark to drive new levels of performance, continuous improvement, field partnership, technological mastery and financial discipline at all levels of the organization.”

In his new role, Kaish is responsible for the support of all Cox products, national voice and data networks, internal and customer-facing applications, billing operations, information security, and PC and LAN support. He will also lead improvement and cost-reduction initiatives across technology operations.

Previously, Kaish was vice president of voice development and support, where he directed the growth of Cox’s voice portfolio. He started working at Cox, the nation’s third-largest cable operator, almost four years ago.

Prior to joining Cox, he served as vice president of next-generation solutions for BellSouth. 

Cox also announced that Steve Marsh was named vice president of technology customer operations. Most recently, he was the executive director of Cox digital telephone product operations, where he led numerous projects and initiatives that contributed materially to the success of Cox as a competitive voice provider.

In his new job, Cox said Marsh would lead the customer operations team that will focus on providing the highest levels of reliability and support for functions that touch Cox customers every day. This team includes the majority of Cox’s network operations functions, in addition to the incorporation of billing operations, management and support groups.

 Prior to joining Cox in 2005, he was a senior director at Infonet-Europe and also spent 17 years at AT&T.  

Sung Yang was named vice president of technology product development and OSS. In his tenure at Cox, Yang has worn various hats and worked on initiatives ranging from workforce automation to self-reliance and wireless.

In his new role, Yang will be responsible for working with Cox’s business and boundary partners to deliver many of the company’s product projects. He will also oversee the product OSS team.

Yang joined Cox 10 years ago from Disney.

Guy McCormick was promoted to vice president of technology business operations.  Most recently, he was the executive director of engineering operations, where he led numerous field initiatives to include network architecture and infrastructure strategies for the western division.

His key responsibilities as vice president of technology business operations include financial management, communications, resource optimization and alignment with operations. He will also monitor and manage the spending and budget performance of the entire technology organizations.

McCormick joined Cox in 1994 with prior experience from MCI and IBM.

In March, Cox announced that Jay Rolls was named as the company’s senior vice president of technology architecture.
