MTS Allstream, working on an expansion of its IPTV services into new markets in Canada, will rely on 2Wire’s HomePortal intelligent gateways to enable the delivery of its IPTV services.

Early in 2008, MTS Allstream rolled out IPTV in Winnipeg, using Alcatel-Lucent’s Triple-Play Service Delivery Architecture (TPSDA) and the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV and multimedia platform. It was subsequently announced that MTS Allstream is using MPEG-4 AVC encoders from Harmonic to support its IPTV services.

MTS Allstream’s expansion has already started with a rollout in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; MTS received permission for that expansion from Canadian authorities last August. Rollouts in the cities of Winnipeg and Brandon are planned for later this year.

The 2Wire HomePortal 3800HGV is a full TR-069 standard-compliant intelligent gateway, optimized for delivering advanced voice, data and video services to the home.
