Symmetricom, which specializes in precise time and frequency technologies, introduced a new clock aimed at improving the performance of Ethernet networks.

The company said its SyncSwitch TC100 Transparent Clock conforms to the IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol (PTP) and minimizes time transfer errors due to packet queuing delays common in Ethernet switches.

The 1588 PTP transparency technology removes errors related to packet delay, facilitating extremely accurate time synchronization between the Grandmaster and the slaves.

Symmetricom said its SyncSwitch is the first Ethernet switch available in a 1RU rack-and-stack chassis with AC power.
