CaribeVision Television Group has formed a joint venture with Tactical Wireless to develop an interactive television (iTV) service – text messaging.

"We are living in the integrated communications era,” said Daniella Valeriano, a Tactical Wireless representative. “Nowadays, television has found in mobile technology an ally, delivering to the audience not only entertainment, but also immediacy.”

It does not matter which wireless carrier the viewer is associated with, CaribeVision said, because viewers will be able to send their opinions and commentaries about CaribeVision TV programming via text.

An innovative subscription system and mobile alerts will be active in the near future, the company said. For a monthly fee, the users will be able to access original information, which varies from news and weather to celebrity gossip.

CaribeVision is a TV network that serves the entertainment, news, sports and information needs of both Hispanic and general audience viewers who have an interest in the culture and lifestyle of the Caribbean. The network is carried by MSOs such as Time Warner Cable and Comcast.
