IMAKE Software & Services Inc. has added targeted advertising capabilities to a new version of its "OpenVision" software for video-on-demand and IPTV.
The new software release, version 4.2, embeds "Ad Exchange," the company's new targeted advertising system. IMAKE said Ad Exchange is designed to insert and append ads onto content prior to distribution, or load the ads onto video servers and distribute and insert them into programming dynamically. In both cases, ads can be targeted based on content characteristics or by rotation dates.
The 4.2 version of OpenVision is set for commercial release in Q1 2007.
IMAKE said it is targeting the new VOD software to cable, telco and content providers, and plans to offer a version that inserts ads into switched digital video streams sometime in 2007.
"Advertising within an on-demand environment and eventually a Switched Digital Video environment has reached a level within Digital Video to support a business model that can provide a true business value to operators and content providers," said IMAKE Chairman & CEO Mark Schaszberger, in a statement.
The company said it has completed integration with a range of encoding, navigation and billing servers, set-top, conditional access and middeware suppliers, including Motorola, Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, NDS Group, Verimatrix, Widevine Technologies, Harmonic Inc., Optibase, OpenTV, DigiSoft.tv, Alticast, Amino, ADB and Microsoft.
