Cable vet Margaret "Maggie" Bellville has joined the board of directors of Vyyo Inc., a maker of spectrum overlay and T-1 emulation platforms for the cable industry.

Bellville, presently a partner with executive search firm CarterBaldwin, has held senior executive positions at MSOs such as Charter Communications, Cox Communications and at what was once known as Century Communications. She also served as president & CEO of Incanta Inc., an ambitious streaming content startup that was in operation through 2002.

Bellville was named Woman of the Year at the National Women in Cable Telecommunications Gala in 2000.

"Her expertise and visionary approach will be invaluable as we continue to work with operators on deployments of our 3 GHz Spectrum Overlay and T-1 over HFC solutions," said Vyyo Chairman & CEO Davidi Gilo, in a statement.

Meanwhile, on the financial front, Vyyo posted a Q3 loss of $7.7 million (43 cents per share), narrowed from a year-ago loss of $8.9 million (57 cents per share).

Sales rose to $1.1 million versus $200,000 a year ago, but were down compared to sales of $2.8 million in the previous quarter.

The company ended the quarter with $23.7 million in cash and cash equivalents, down from $27.6 million a year ago.
