SES Americom, satisfied with the performance of Myrio middleware in trials, said it will use the software with its open IP-Prime IPTV content distribution platform, scheduled to go live later this year.

Myrio's is the first middleware chosen for the system; SES Americom expects to also use other middleware.

SES Americom has also cleared conditional access from NDS for use with IP-Prime, along with Scientific Atlanta's MPEG-4 encoding system and ROSA Network Management System. Globecomm is providing overall design and integration services as well as contributing technology for SES Americom's Broadcast Distribution Center in Vernon Valley, N.J.

The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), which serves rural and independent telephone companies, is currently testing IP-Prime in several communities.
