Now that fixed WiMAX is officially standardized, Fujitsu Network Communications is offering service providers a solution that combines Airspan Networks' carrier-class WiMAX products and its own Network Life Cycle Services.

Though both companies have worked together as founding members of the WiMAX Forum, the pair said this reseller arrangement represents the first system-level agreement between them. Fujitsu has obtained the rights to resell Airspan's entire portfolio of WiMAX AS.MAX broadband access products in North America.

Fujitsu will offer large- and small-scale base station solutions as well as indoor, outdoor and Wi-Fi enabled Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).

Airspan claims to be the first supplier to offer both base stations and CPE in the 3.5 GHz FDD profile certified by the WiMAX Forum, and its 4.9 GHz WiMAX products recently received FCC certification for deployment in North America. The company has a 5.8 GHz product line due in the third quarter of 2006.

Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services help carriers create and extend their WiMAX footprint by utilizing planning services such as RF engineering, site acquisition and site preparation. When carriers are ready to build their network, Fujitsu offers a full line of deployment services, which include installation and test/turn-up services, as well as backhaul and back-office connectivity provisioning.
