CommScope Inc. has sealed a deal to acquire the cable technology assets of Trilogy Communications, including its MC2 line of trunk and distribution cable products and PB10 gear.
CommScope did not disclose the value of the deal, but said it would not pick up any Trilogy liabilities or employ any of Trilogy's present employees in connection with the agreement. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2006.
CommScope noted that Trilogy's 75-ohm trunk and distribution business posted revenues of less than $20 million for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2005.
"We believe that this acquisition further enhances our ability to serve our global broadband cable customers," said CommScope EVP of Broadband Sales & Marketing Jim Hughes, in a release.
For its part, Trilogy said it will continue to manufacture and market its AirCell product line, which includes tower/base stations and in-building wireless equipment. Recent AirCell customers include Heathrow Airport in London, and the AOL Time Warner Building in New York City.
"With the sale of the CATV product lines, Trilogy will be better positioned to focus on the AirCell product lines," said Trilogy President S. Shinn Lee.
