Multikabel, a major MSO based in the Netherlands, will tap C-COR Inc.'s CHP Max5000 platform to power a headend upgrade and beef up bandwidth for advanced services.
The CHP Max5000 is designed to converge hub, headend and digital transport onto one platform. Its 2-RU footprint features variable output optics, CWDM and DWDM, optional redundant powering, and hot-swappable modules. The device is managed via a tablet PC interface and SNMP.
With shipments slated to begin this month, Multikabel said it will use the platform to upgrade bandwidth for its slate of high-speed data, IP telephony and digital video services. Further down the road, the MSO plans to introduce video-on-demand, as well. The operator provides cable services to more than 340,000 residential and business customers.
"We believe that CHP will provide Multikabel the capacity to ensure both the growth of these services and its competitive position in the marketplace," said Rod Peery, C-COR's director of sales for the EMEA region.
