EuroCableLabs has awarded certification to a batch of cable modems and embedded multimedia terminal adapters (eMTAs) following testing wave 22.
The board granted Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 certification to the ARRIS Touchstone Telephony Modem 501B, the ASUSTek ACM6046TE cable modem, the Ambit E08C009 eMTA, and two eMTA models from Scientific-Atlanta: the WebSTAR EPC2203 and WebSTAR EPC2223. The S-A EPC2223 was also certified for Euro-PacketCable.
ARRIS said its model was the first RoHS (Restriction to Hazardous Substances)-compliant eMTA to be certified for EuroDOCSIS 2.0. Compliance assures that the equipment meets or exceeds the pending European Directive for the removal of lead and other heavy metals, the vendor said.
The ELC Certification Board also announced plans to begin certification testing of Euro-PacketCable 1.5 products in wave 22, set to kick off in January. That version includes support for enhancements and features such as fax relay capabilities and advanced audio codecs.
