Pace Micro Technology has obtained DOCSIS 2.0 certification for a digital set-top with an embedded cable modem and DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway (DSG) functionality following certification wave 38 at CableLabs.
Pace's TDC775D set-top is the second set-top to win DSG certification, and the first to do so with DOCSIS 2.0 and a set-top based on Motorola Inc.'s Mediacipher conditional access system. Scientific-Atlanta Inc.'s Explorer 8300 was the first set-top maker to win DSG certification, gaining the distinction following certification wave 32 with an embedded DOCSIS 1.0 cable modem.
DSG uses standard DOCSIS signaling to deliver messages and program guide data to digital set-tops. More advanced uses of DSG could include IP streaming applications.
Also in wave 38, three other products obtained DOCSIS 2.0 certification. The companies included Alpha Technologies (Alpha CM-H); ARRIS (Touchstone TM502G embedded multimedia terminal adapter); and Asustek (ACM6049EB).
Linksys, meanwhile, obtained CableHome 1.1 certification for the WCG104 cable modem gateway.
Applications, documentation, and equipment for wave 39 are due to CableLabs by Aug. 25.
