Broadband training specialist NCTI has released a networking course designed to help cable operators build and administer home and peer-to-peer data networks.

The course, dubbed Introduction to Networking: Home and Peer-to-Peer Networks, demonstrates how operators can set up and manage simple home or office networks, a need that has grown, NCTI said, as the cable industry coverts from traditional RF-based systems to those based on Internet Protocol technology.

In addition to teaching the fundamentals of networking and data communications, the paper-based course also identifies and explores the hardware, software, protocols and signals tied to underlying network operators.

NCTI said students who complete the course will earn a $15 voucher toward Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) membership and certification fees.
