Armstrong Cable is using the Terayon Communication Systems DM 6400 Network CherryPicker to fuel the operator's digital simulcast plans.

Armstrong has deployed CherryPickers at its master headend in Zelienople, Pa., where the devices are rate-shaping and statistically remultiplexing both nationally-delivered digital programming and locally-encoded MPEG-2 streams. From there, Armstrong is distributing those signals via its entire network.

The operator is also using Terayon gear to enable Comcast Spotlight, which is collaborating with Armstrong to sell advertising and insert local ads in the digital domain.

Armstrong provides services in areas of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland.
