Net2Phone Inc. 's hunting license with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) has yielded a couple of deployments for the VoIP service outsourcer.
Net2Phone has scored deployments with Communications Services and the City of Tifton, Ga., which operates a municipal cable system called CityNet. Those operators plan to deploy Net2Phone's SIP-based VoiceLine service across the board.
Net2Phone is a Platinum Vendor of NCTC, a purchasing group that represents more than 1,100 small- and mid-sized U.S. cable operators. Although NCTC members will retain ownership of their VoIP subs and the brand of the service, Net2Phone will handle the service's provisioning and billing integration, the switching platform, operator/directory assistance, and connectivity with the PSTN.
"Cable operators big and small can benefit from adding telephony to their suite of services," said Michael Pastor, president of Net2Phone's cable telephony division.
