Cox Communications is employing the BigBand Networks Cuda cable modem termination system to power a number of the MSO's recent VoIP service launches.
To date, Cox has completed Cuda-supported VoIP deployments in Lafayette, La., and Tulsa, Okla.
"We were pleased to discover that we could utilize VoIP capabilities on the incumbent BigBand Cuda CMTS platforms in Lafayette and Tulsa for the Cox Digital Telephone launches," said Jay Rolls, Cox's VP of telephone and data engineering, in a release.
Cox has used the Cuda platform since 2000 in support of high-speed data services.
BigBand purchased the IP cable unit of ADC — which included ADC's CMTS assets — in mid-2004.
