Charter Communications has agreed to use a proprietary system from Rentrak Corp. to measure and report video-on-demand usage data.
Charter will use the system, called OnDemand Essentials, to collect anonymous VOD viewing data. The deployment follows a one-year trial.
The platform "will enable us to accurately measure and analyze on-demand viewing preferences so that we can further enhance our on-demand offerings for our customers," said Robert Ladd, Charter's director of marketing for on-demand and pay-per-view services.
Rentrak also has deployments with Cablevision Systems Corp., Comcast Cable, and Insight Communications. Music Choice is the first (and so far only) announced programmer to subscribe to the OnDemand Essentials service.
